Welcome

Dear People of Hull,

Welcome to this website! It’s been created by a group of volunteers as temporary place for idea germination and cultivation, and to inspire and encourage fellow Hullensians in preparation for city of culture! It aims to spread the word, index provisional events and map out street-level celebrations planned for 2017.

Let’s find exciting ways of expressing and celebrating our distinctive culture in a very DIY, home grown, hand-crafted and personal way that inspires us and visitors to our city. Any cultural offering can be made and this website is merely a place to promote it. Come here to see what’s being arranged, no matter how small or informal, even from the early stages. Here you can find out how to get involved.

You may have ideas for something that is only on your street. That doesn’t matter as it could be something that inspires another group to do something themselves. Please get in touch via hull2017diy@gmail.com to promote your cultural celebration… anything, no matter how small, esoteric or bizarre.

We aim to build links between active participants, facilitate collaboration and ultimately to unite streets and neighbourhoods in a way that brings about sharing, cooperation, learning and cultural creativity. Ultimately the ambition is to create a united, closely-knit city as a legacy beyond 2017.

Let’s do it ourselves!

Pat Pattie & the team @ 2017diy
